Radon testing is done using a Continuous Radon Monitor (CRM), which is a highly accurate method used by certified radon mitigators to assess indoor radon levels. The CRM is an electronic device that is strategically placed in the lowest livable area of the home, where radon gas is most likely to enter and accumulate. Over a testing period of 48 hours or more, the CRM continuously samples and records radon concentrations, typically in hourly intervals, providing a detailed and time-stamped profile of radon fluctuations. This allows the EHS to detect not only the average radon level but also patterns influenced by ventilation, weather, or occupant behavior. After the monitoring period, the data is analyzed and used to generate a comprehensive report. This report helps determine whether radon levels exceed the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L, and if mitigation is required to protect the health of the home’s occupants.
